  • The Indra business unit has developed a system to securely analyze files and data from external USB devices before they are transferred to the networks and critical systems of companies and institutions
  • The solution is already being used successfully in infrastructures as critical as process networks in Nuclear Power Plants and software input control via USB devices in Data Centers
Kioscos Indra

Minsait, the Indra business unit that responds to the challenges posed by the digital transformation, has designed a USB Frontier Kiosk that makes it possible to check that the data included on external devices, such as memory sticks, USB drives or laptops, are safe before putting them in systems or enterprise networks that require special protection.

The USB Frontier Kiosk solution facilitates the comprehensive analysis of files from multiple devices, including USB, CD/DVD, different types of Flashcard, or laptops, among others. Upon connecting the device to one of the ports available on the USB Frontier Kiosk, this solution performs an analysis by using multiple antivirus engines.

As a protection against BadUSB vulnerability or devices that have had their firmware changed to serve as an attack vector and are undetectable, the Minsait USB Frontier Kiosk establishes a procedure by which scanned files are moved to a flash drive or secure service machine, which is what should be used in enterprise networks. These service devices have a certificate in their firmware ensuring that it has not been modified after leaving the factory and that they can be used securely.

After performing the analysis, the user checks the result via the screen or interface of the USB Kiosk and can print proof that the process was completed successfully, thus making sure their files and data are secure.

The new Minsait solution is intended to act as an effective security measure in Public Administrations, companies that manage critical infrastructures or sensitive information, large companies in general and armed forces and public security bodies.

In addition to checking file security, Minsait's USB Frontier Kiosk FEEP solution also securely deletes sensitive information used in service devices, which prevents deleted data from being able to be recovered from them.

Minsait has already successfully installed the USB Frontier Kiosk as a security measure to protect various critical infrastructures that are key in Spain such as Nuclear Power Plants. It has also installed them to protect its own international network of Advanced Cybersecurity Centers (i-CSOC), as an additional security measure that is added to access control, biometric identification, presence control or the Tempest protection of its facilities. The highest security level in Minsait's i-CSOC provides a differential value to clients who entrust it with their cybersecurity.

The USB Frontier Kiosk FEEP solution is part of the integrated ecosystem of FEEP (Foresee Engage Empower Protect) solutions created by Minsait. This ecosystem acts as a key to change of companies in their digital transformation. Within this transformation Minsait supports its clients by identifying new business models based on disruptive technologies; transforming and strengthening business relationships with its clients through digital channels; providing them with technologies that boost their operations and that give them a competitive advantage; and protecting their digital fingerprint.
