ETRM at Ecopetrol
In May 2009, Indra successfully completed the implementation project of an integral Energy Trading and Risk Management platform (ETRM) at Ecopetrol, the largest company of Colombia, and the main petroleum company in the country.
Due to its size, Ecopetrol belongs to one of the 39 biggest petroleum companies of the world, and is one of the five most important companies in Latin America.
Through an agreement worth USD$2.43m Indra has implemented the Allegro ETRM solution at Ecopetrol, to trade internationally raw and refined oil. Among other benefits, this cutting-edge technology enables the company to reveal and handle in real time its trading activities, that is to say, its purchase and sale processes, making them more efficient.
Likewise, this solution helps Ecopetrol to optimally manage its risk exposure, becoming a valuable tool to make business decisions, carry out strategic operations and make its international trading operations more profitable every day.
For a period of 10 months, Indra's professionals from Spain, Colombia and the United States have been working in what is considered by the company a strategic project, having positioned Indra at the forefront ETRM solutions implementation within the Latin American market.
This project also presented an opportunity to develop an attractive business line in the region for energy, petroleum and gas markets.
