Support for the Central American Regional Electricity Market:
Indra has been in charge, from its Software Lab in Panama, of designing, developing and implementing the management systems that will provide support for the operation of the new Regional Electricity Market of Central America (MER)..
MER is a wholesale electricity market created through the initiative of the Governments of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama for managing energy imports and exports among these countries. It is oriented at promoting the development of regional generation projects and the increase of interconnection capacity, to boost the social and economic development in the countries of the region..
The systems developed by Indra will manage the international electric energy operations among the market agents (generating companies, trade companies, distribution companies and key users) and the use of the electricity transmission network. All of this will be coordinated by the Regional Operator Entity (EOR) of MER and by national operators of each of the six countries.
Moreover, Indra will assume the development of the energy pre-dispatch and redispatch information system which aims at establishing, for each hour of the day, the optimum regional programming of the electricity amount that each of the agents shall inject and remove in the transmission network of the regional electricity market..
