SIVE arrives in Latvia
Indra has implemented and started up an integrated surveillance system for Latvia's naval forces to protect territorial waters and coastline from all sorts of threats.
The project consists of implementing remote fixed stations equipped with sea-surveillance radar systems as well as an optronic platform with ultrared sensor and daylight-vision camera along 500 kms of Latvian coast.
These stations are connected to a control and command center situated in the city of Liepaja. The center's function is to integrate all the data compiled by sensor stations to create a common and unified scenario of the Latvian coast to alert the system operators of possible threats (drug traffic, illegal immigration, smuggling of goods, etc.), with enough time for an effective response. Besides this, the center can also transmit and receive information from coast guard patrols.
The contract foresees the possibility of including additional sea surveillance systems as well as extending the guarantee period of the project.
