New Generation Flight Data Processing

The Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, operated by EUROCONTROL, has implemented the New Generation Flight Data Processing System (FDPS), in order to guarantee interoperability and to manage one of the most complex air spaces with greatest traffic in Europe, located over Benelux and north-east Germany.

Supplied by Indra, the New Generation Maastricht Flight Data Processing System supports civil and military operations, and provides a combination of vanguard tools for managing future air traffic growth in a safer, faster, and more environmentally efficient manner.

In fact, the new system complies with the Single European Sky standards regarding the interoperability of the European Air Traffic Management network (EC) No. 552/2004, and its applicable implementation rules. Developed according to the specifications of European Flight Data Plan Processing (eFDP), this system represents a fundamental step towards the Single European Sky objective of reducing fragmentation of the Air Traffic Control systems that still exists in Europe today, through greater interoperability between these systems.

Aside form providing effective air navigation services, the advanced characteristics of the new FDPS also make up an unequalled platform that is able to support the pre-operational assessment and validation of the future concepts of the SESAR development phase, within a special operating environment that is real or close to reality.
