Context

Maximum safety for occupants

Airbus Helicopters, formerly Eurocopter, is a division of Airbus Group, the world leader in the aerospace and defense sectors. It is the leading global manufacturer of helicopters and its current fleet consists of nearly 12,000 helicopters serving over three thousand clients in some 150 countries.

Airbus Helicopters offers the widest range of civil and military helicopters on the market, which represents one third of the world's civil and parapublic helicopter fleet.

The company's main priority is to ensure the highest level of safety for the thousands of people who spend more than three million hours flying onboard their helicopters every year.

The EC175 was developed in close cooperation with operators, in order to create a medium-sized twin-engine helicopter suitable for a wide range of missions:

  • Personnel transportation operations at high sea, search and rescue
  • Private transportation
  • Services
  • Medical evacuation

Our experts have worked closely with their counterparts from Airbus Helicopters to develop the simulator while the aircraft was still under development.

The EC175 certification was issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in January 2014, laying the groundwork for the delivery of Airbus Helicopters to their first clients this same year.

Proposed solution

Full range of training solutions

  •  The mobile flight simulator includes a state-of-the-art visual projection system with a 210 x 80 degree field of vision to realistically recreate flight conditions and provide an immersive training experience
  • The simulator data package provided by Airbus Helicopters ensures that the flight model and all of the aeronautic systems will exactly reproduce the actual aircraft
  • New Helionix® avionics package from Airbus Helicopters and a 4-axis digital automatic pilot
  • In addition to the level D flight simulator, we have built a flight navigation procedures trainer (FNPT) that will also be available at the Airbus Helicopters Training Services facilities in Marignane

Benefits

Maximum realism for total immersion training

  • The pilots will be able to practice all the necessary operating tasks and procedures in normal and emergency situations, including those related to flights and missions
  • This system gives pilots valuable training opportunities using a fixed system to complement the flight simulator
  • Through a motion system, computergenerated visual scenes and the exact reproduction of cockpit instruments, the simulator makes it possible to "fly" mission-specific scenarios, including landings on offshore platforms for the oil and gas industry
  • Increased safety thanks to reduced pilot workload, greater situational knowledge, improved flight envelope protection and system redundancy
