Indra Group has reached an agreement with Teknei, a Bilbao-based technology company specializing in consulting, software development and IT solutions, for the sale of its Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) unit in Spain, Colombia, Italy, Peru, Mexico, Chile and Portugal for €96.6 million. Teknei is a flagship operator in the sector with a firm commitment to excellence and innovation. The two companies will work together to guarantee a seamless integration for the professionals, teams and customers.
The operation is part of Indra Group’s Leading the Future Strategic Plan, which is designed to enhance the company’s positioning in key sectors, including Defence, Aerospace and Advanced Digital Technologies. The BPO business generated 196 million euros in revenue in 2024. For Teknei it’s an operation aligned with its strategic growth plan, with which it aims to achieve a €1 billion turnover by 2030. Moreover, the purchase will strengthen its leadership of the technology service and process outsourcing market, in which it has large customers in sectors such as banking, insurance and public administration.
The sale of BPO to Teknei will guarantee operational continuity and quality of service for all of its customers through the transfer of contracts and technology. One of the core axes of the sale has been the orderly transfer of the professionals. The agreement includes a social clause that guarantees the transfer of over 5,000 workers to Teknei, with a commitment to maintain their jobs for at least two years following the completion of the operation and retain their current conditions and seniority.
According to Indra Group CEO José Vicente de los Mozos, the operation “will enable us to further the implementation of our Leading the Future Strategic Plan and focus our investments on priority sectors on our roadmap with which, we believe, we can lead solutions covering the whole of Europe. The operation has been designed in such a way as to ensure the continuity of the service to the customers and maintain the jobs of the professionals working in the BPO business. Teknei is a Spanish company with far-reaching experience and renown in the sector that’s set to provide continuity and new opportunities for the talent that has enabled the BPO business to grow”.
Joseba Lekube, Teknei’s CEO, declared that the acquisition of Indra Group’s BPO business “constitutes a decisive step that will help us increase our scale and strengthen our position in the technology service market. The incorporation will deliver vital capabilities for complex processes and highly specialized talent, providing more comprehensive and innovative solutions suited to our clients' needs. We’re convinced that it will become a lever to accelerate our growth and bring us closer to the target we’ve set for 2030”.
