  • Its capabilities in rail and port logistics, cyber-resilience, AI, infrastructure control and protection, on-track sensors, and space enable Indra to provide advanced solutions that position it as a key partner in the bolstering of European technological sovereignty
  • Indra also has a significant presence in strategic areas for military mobility within the current geo-strategic context, including Lithuania and Estonia, where it is the supplier of the national railway traffic control and management systems
Indra Group military mobility

Indra Group has presented the European Union with its technological capabilities for the modernization and improvement of military mobility in critical infrastructures, particularly railways, positioning it as a key partner in the advancement of European strategic autonomy and the reinforcement of continental security.

Indra Group is the only European company with extensive capabilities in defence, mobility, rail transport, and port logistics management, as a result of which it is in a position to deploy its technology in the adaptation of infrastructures for dual use, with the aim of facilitating the streamlined and secure movement of personnel, military equipment and resources in and outside Europe.

The modernization of military mobility is a priority for the European Union, which, as part of its European Defence Readiness plan, has increased its investment tenfold to promote the adaptation of the European rail and transport network, with a view to enhancing the capacity for movement of the Armed Forces in peacetime and during potential crises, and to improving the interoperability of the member States. The aim is to overcome logistical, legislative, and infrastructure-related barriers through modernization by digitalizing procedures, improving infrastructures, and harmonizing the standards of different countries.

Within this context, Indra Group provides cutting-edge solutions based on its capabilities in artificial intelligence, cyber-resilience, advanced control systems, infrastructure signalling and protection, on-track sensors, and space for the tracking and supervision of strategic assets, positioning it as a key partner in the reinforcement of European technological sovereignty and guaranteeing autonomy in the development and maintenance of critical capabilities, thus reducing dependence on third countries.

Raul Ripio, general manager of Mobility & Technology at Indra, highlighted that “Indra Group provides open, scalable, and interoperable digital technologies that optimize rail traffic management and automate administrative procedures, simplifying logistical processes and improving coordination between countries. Digitalization is vital to ensure smooth and efficient cross-border movement, and it constitutes a key component of the modernization of European military mobility. It’s here that our technological capabilities make the difference”.

Another distinctive factor is that for a number of years Indra Group has been working on military mobility in the current geo-strategic context in countries such as Lithuania and Estonia, where it is the supplier of the national railway traffic control and management systems.

Intelligent and sovereign technology

The advanced solutions that Indra Group brings to the table to improve dual mobility in Europe include its open digital signage technology. Open Digital Signalling is an open, digital, and cybersecure ecosystem by design to guarantee railway operations. In this area, Indra also proposes hybrid signalling solutions that employ secure satellite communications and positioning environments to develop an ERTMS system and protect the infrastructure, making the latter resilient to any cyber threats.

Indra Group’s solutions provide a high degree of cyber-resilience in terms of cybersecurity, telecommunications, and the power supply for control systems, with the aid of the capabilities of IndraMind, the sovereign AI platform designed by the company to manage hybrid conflicts through a holistic approach to security and defence.

The company also delivers systems for the physical protection of military mobility infrastructures, a strategic goal in crisis situations, by means of long-distance optronic technologies and anti-drone shields designed to detect and neutralize hybrid threats such as sabotage, theft and drone attacks. Moreover, Indra Group promotes the integration of railway infrastructures into military logistics centers to create dual control accesses with extremely high levels of security and protection.

With its dual civil and military ethos, Indra Group leads the development of solutions that combine cyber-resilience, infrastructure protection, cross-border automation and control, energy independence, and advanced digitalization, essential pillars for the military mobility of the future, technological sovereignty, and European strategic autonomy. In this respect, Indra Group is in a unique position in Europe to address the challenges of modern military mobility.
