Minsait reaffirms its commitment to quality with the renewal of the tier-3 CMMI model in nine countries

Minsait, an Indra company, has renewed its Tier-3 CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) certification in the latest 2.0 version for its regular software development processes and, for the first time, ones that employ the Agile methodology. The accreditation constitutes acknowledgment of the company’s commitment to quality in software production and process optimization in the many countries and areas of activity where it operates.

The certification obtained, which has a global scope, covers the international markets where Minsait does most business: Spain, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico and the Philippines. This poses an added difficulty when it comes to carrying out the evaluation, as these are countries located on three different continents (Europe, America and Asia). Specifically, it entails implementation at 96 work centers in nine different countries, encompassing a total of 19 group companies and the work of around 30,000 company professionals committed to compliance with this model.

The renewal achieved by the company in accordance with the model of the CMMI Institute, a global benchmark in terms of quality and the application of the best practices in software engineering and development, constitutes further acknowledgment of Minsait’s ongoing commitment to quality as a driving force of excellence and sustainability. Minsait has used the CMMI certification as a reference model for the maturity of its software development processes since 2008, attaining the accreditation in all the subsidiaries that have undergone evaluations.

The implementation of the CMMI model has been geared towards ensuring the smooth running of processes in the software development cycle that use the traditional methodology and, for the first time, incorporate the Agile methodology, which allows for assembly in short cycles and the adjustment of the decision-making process during a project in keeping with the needs that arise, in such a way that risks are minimized and times are shortened. This has meant including the corresponding methodology in application management, different technologies and user management. As a result, the number of project and service incidents has fallen, thus substantially improving the quality of product delivery to customers.

In the assessment made, the evaluation team highlighted Minsait’s capacity in the estimation, planning, engineering and software development processes. Likewise, it also recognized the best practices in measurement, monitoring and control, risk and opportunity management, quality assurance, configuration management and service catalog management, as well as the testing process and peer review system.

The company’s commitment to continuous improvement, product and service quality and customer satisfaction are enhanced by the constant effort to secure and renew the different certifications with a global scope. Minsait has also recently renewed Tier 3 of its TMMi certification, the international standard that measures and improves software testing and quality processes and activities, at seven of its Software Production Centers located in five different countries. In a similar vein, Indra has received Tier-5 CMMI registration for its Air Traffic Management programs and the León Center of Excellence, while Minsait has received it for its Advanced Application Management Services, User Services and Project Development in Spain, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
