Granted by the +Familia foundation, the certificate acknowledges those companies that develop strategies and policies to conciliate family, professional and private life of its employees

The certificate implies a long-term commitment with conciliation and equal opportunities policies, ensuring a continuous improvement in this field

Indra, the premier IT company in Spain and a leading IT multinational in Europe was granted the certificate of family-responsible company (EFR) by the + Familia foundation. The certificate acknowledges those companies that develop strategies and policies to conciliate family, professional and personal life of its employees.

The +Familia foundation granted the certificate to Indra after two audits, an internal and an external. The first consisted of interviewing 2% of the staff and the second, carried out by AENOR, dealt with the policy of Human Resources in compliance with the EFR 1000-1 regulation.

Indra was built on talent and effort of its professionals. Therefore looking after them is one of the most important pillars.

For such purpose, the company conceived several strategies to conciliate professional, family and personal life and in many cases, the strategy was created before the legislation. That is the case of the Equality Plan. It includes measures that aim at creating the best conditions for women to conciliate family and professional life.

This initiative, conceived before the Equality Law that came into effect in 2007 adds equality to conciliation and it is included in the “Equilibra” programa (Equilibra=Concilia+Iguala) that became effective in 2005. The programme includes telecommuting, birth cheque or the employee’s club that offers discounts in services and products. Recently a new measure has been included in the programme: flexible maternity/ paternity. This new initiative opens the door to more maternity/paternity leaves within legislation in addition to providing more flexibility for these leave periods. People are given three alternatives to choose according to needs and personal preferences.

To grant this award, the +Familia foundation took into consideration policies and initiatives that support employees’ concerns such as family, work quality, labour flexibility, integration and equality.

For Indra this certificate means a long-term commitment with conciliation and equality policies, ensuring a continuous improvement in this field since the certificate is valid for three years. For renewal, a new audit is required.

The + Familia foundation is a private, non-denominational and non-profit entity. It does not depend on politics and tries to promote, defend and protect families, specifically those that depend on the foundation.

Indra is the premier Information Technology company in Spain and a leading IT multinational in Europe and Latin America. It is ranked as the second European company in its sector according to stock market capitalisation, and it is one of the three Spanish companies with more investment in R&D. In 2007, revenues reached € 2.167 M, of which a third came from the international market. The company employs more than 24.000 professionals and has clients in more than 90 countries.
