On April 22, the 8th Festibity Information Technology Fair is to take place in Barcelona. The 2010 event will focus on solutions for the tourist industry and the application of Information Technology in this sector. Indra is one of the companies sponsoring the gathering, which is to be held in the Sala Marqués de Comillas in Barcelona. Festibity will put the spotlight on the evolution of an industry that has become central to the economic development of Catalonia, owing to the region's privileged location, highly diverse attractions (culture, activities, services) and its focus on quality. These features have allowed Catalonia to become one of the most highly sought after destinations on the European continent. The aim of the Fair is to explore the value of ICTs in tourism from a variety of perspectives: business, trends, customers and administrations, all with the collaboration of specialists, professionals and entrepreneurs. In addition, as is now customary, the Festibity Awards will be presented during the event to individuals or companies who have distinguished themselves in the field of information technology, while upholding values and practices that are in line with the principles of the Cercle Fiber, the Alumnae Association of the School of Computer Science of Barcelona (FIB). The event has been organized by both organizations, along with the backing of the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and the Information Society, the Regional Government of Catalonia and the City of Barcelona.
