  • The contract includes implementing the inGEN system for the Centralised Control Centre (COE) and the 18 thermal power stations of the energy giant
  • Aside from consolidating its position as a technological partner of Petrobras, one of the five largest energy groups in the world, Indra boosts its leadership in Brazil's energy market, where more than 40 companies have adopted its solutions

Indra, the leading Spanish multinational consulting and technology firm and one of the main players in Europe and Latin America, has obtained a new contract with Petrobras, the largest energy group in Latin America and one of the top five in the world, to implement its technology for managing and operating the Brazilian giant's thermal power stations.

Through this agreement, Petrobras will adopt the inGEN system in order to standardise scheduling and operating procedures in real time between the energy operations centre (COE) and the company's power plants, as well as communications with the National Electrical System Operator (ONS). Petrobras' group of thermal power stations consists of 18 plants located throughout the country that sum an installed capacity of nearly 5,000 MW.

Indra's solution will integrate Petrobras' Operations Management System (SGO) and provide integrated coverage of pre-operation, real time operation and post-operation procedures. This means that the support will cover power generation scheduling, incident and issue management, availability analysis, production tracking as well as the preparation of daily and monthly operations reports, among other aspects.

The primary advantages of implementing inGEN include automating communications with technical network operators, making available real time information in the systems, managing information in a centralised and local manner, standardising operating processes and unifying information. It also facilitates the use of common indicators in managing the power stations as well as standardised reports, among others.

The project has a high strategic value since it is the first implementation of this system in South America, and also because of the customer's high relevance.

Petrobras is an integrated energy company that is present in 28 countries throughout the five continents. It operates in the entire chain of oil and gas, as well as in the production of biofuels and other alternative energies. The corporation has more than 100 production platforms, 16 refineries, 30,000 kilometres of oil pipelines and more than 7,000 service stations. In addition, it has formed part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index since 2006.
