  • The contract comes after Indra has already implemented a Mode S secondary radar system at this airport to reinforce airspace safety
  • Indra has consolidated its position in Africa, a continent currently immersed in the intensive modernization of its aeronautical infrastructures and airports

The Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority has commissioned Indra to supply and install its advanced passenger information system, inSIGHT, at Entebbe International Airport.

This solution is the component that facilitates communication between the airport and passengers, providing information about flights, check-in desks, boarding gates, baggage reclaim belts, etc.

InSIGHT can also be used to display advertisements and commercial messages as well as special announcements for passengers and airport personnel.

As part of the same project, the company will also deploy screens to display all the information that the system provides and retrieves directly from the Airport Operations Database (AODB).

Indra's system has been designed to offer information in an attractive way, improving the passenger experience and facilitating foot traffic through the airport. The outcome is speedier and more agile management of arrivals and departures, leading to greater overall efficiency.

InSIGHT forms part of Indra's InAIRPORT suite, developed to facilitate comprehensive terminal management. As part of this same suite, Indra has developed InPLAN, a collaborative decision-making system (A-CDM); InBASE, an airport operations database (AODB); InWATCH, an integrated security system; and InUSE, a resource management system.

As a technology provider of both landside and airside systems as well as air traffic management solutions, Indra won this new contract in Uganda following its deployment of a Mode S secondary radar system at the same airport to reinforce airspace safety.

This latest reference consolidates the company's position in Africa, a continent currently immersed in the modernization of its aeronautical infrastructures and airports. For example, Indra systems are used to manage the main airports in Kenya as well as the business conducted by the KAA (Kenya Airports Authority). Also in Kenya, the company has installed its air traffic control systems in the East African School of Aviation.

Elsewhere in Africa, Indra is the technology partner of the Moroccan aeronautical services agency, the Office National des Aéroports (ONDA), having modernized its air traffic management systems. Cape Verde and Tunisia are some of the other countries that use Indra air traffic surveillance and control systems, as does the navigation service provider ASECNA (Agence pour Sécurité de la Navigation Aérienne en Afrique et à Madagascar), which services 17 African countries.
