  • The multinational technology and consulting firm is the only company in the IT and Internet services technology sub-sector to have remained on this index since joining it in 2006
  • Indra's continued presence in this ranking is recognition of the company's commitment to value creation and continuous improvement in transparency, corporate governance and sustainable development

Indra, the leading multinational technology and consulting firm in Spain and one of the major companies in Europe and Latin America, is on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World for the ninth year in a row. Indra is the only company in the IT and Internet services technology sub-sector to have remained on this world index since joining it in 2006.

Indra's continued presence on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as one of the leading world companies is recognition of the company's focus on excellence and its policy of continuous improvement in transparency, social and environmental management, innovation, sustainable development and corporate governance. It also reiterates how its actions create value from socially-responsible investment.

For the period 2014/2015, Indra has maintained its positive overall assessment for economic, social and environmental aspects, and has increased its score in areas such as environmental strategy, digital inclusion and social action. This improvement was derived from the company's efforts to improve management of its CO2 emissions and to provide better information and transparency at this level. In social terms, the multinational has encouraged corporate volunteering and development of accessible technologies that contribute to the social integration of disabled people. Indra has also implemented new initiatives such as pro bono projects aimed at improving training for NGOs, associations and foundations through technology and consulting projects.

The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index shows great fluctuations as every year it applies stricter requirements; companies are thus compelled to continuously improve their performance. When compared with the 2013 selection, out of the 319 companies on the index, 32 have been added and 46 have been excluded this year. Indra's continued presence reflects the company's commitment to creating value and long-term sustainability.

Managed by RobecoSAM, an investment company specializing in sustainability, the DJSI World index selects 319 socially-responsible companies among the 3,000 biggest companies in the world.

The family of indexes that comprise the Dow Jones Sustainability Index have been generated since 1999 from information requested in advance from the largest companies listed on the stock market. The index is a benchmark for the enterprise and financial sectors. The information and data required to decide whether a company should be included in the DJSI come from analyzing a wide-ranging questionnaire and the companies' publicly-available information. The companies included in the DJSI are publicly recognized as leaders in the social, environmental and economic activity spheres.

Recognizing transparency

The Report Watch ranking, one of the most extensive and prestigious in the world, has also recognized Indra's commitment to transparency and its efforts to provide the best information to its stakeholders. For the second consecutive year Indra's Annual Report has been chosen as the best-in-sector report in the world.

Indra has maintained its position as the second among the seven Spanish companies included in the “top 400”. This list contains the best annual reports in the world from a total of 2,000 publicly-traded companies. The reports are analyzed and assessed by e.com, a Belgium company, and a panel of external specialists.

In 2008 for the first time Indra published an integrated report describing its economic, social and environmental performance; in 2012 Indra became the first Spanish company to publish an integrated annual report in compliance with the new model designed by the Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC). Indra is one of the seven Spanish companies and one of the three technology companies in the world to have been selected to take part in this pilot program; its goal is to develop an international framework or standard for integrated reports and to encourage its adoption by organizations so as to provide more comprehensive and easier-to-understand information.

Indra, chaired by Javier Monzón, is one of the world's largest consultancy and technology multinationals, a leader in Europe and Latin America and is expanding in other emerging economies.
