At Indra, we have been calculating and verifying our carbon footprint voluntarily since 2009.
This indicator allows us to design the main climate strategies and set emission reduction targets.
Carbon Footprint (tCO2 eq) | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Scope 1: direct CO2 emissions from gas, diesel and refrigerant gases | 1,764 | 1,759 | 1,681 | 2,035 | 1,831 |
Scope 2: indirect CO2 emissions for electricity consumption (market based) | 2,923 | 1,897 | 1,211 | 1,182 | 829 |
Scope 3: indirect CO2 emissions for the value chain | 375,417 | 335,583 | 378,127 | 430,129 | 446,361 |
Intensity (scope 1+2) | 0.096 | 0.072 | 0.053 | 0.057 | 0.044 |
Breakdown of scope 3 emissions in 2024 (tCO2e) according to GHG protocol: Cat. 1 Goods and services 258,468; Cat 2. Capital goods 5,937; Cat. 3 Fuel and energy activities 346; Cat. 4 and 9 Transport and distribution 16,694; Cat. 5 Waste generated 333; Cat. 6 Business travel 30,103; Cat. 7 Commuting 30,134; Cat. 8 Leased assets 8.,392; Cat. 11 Use of products sold 74,359; Cat. 12 End-of-life treatment of products sold 21; Cat. 13 Downstream leased assets N.A.; Cat. 14 Franchising N.A.; Cat. 15 Investments 21,574; Cat. N.A. 10, 13, and 14
The energy consumption emissions (scope 1 and 2 emissions) account for 0.7% of the total Carbon Footprint of Indra and indirect emissions from the value chain (scope 3 emissions) account for 99.3% of the Carbon Footprint of the company (2023 data). To reduce the Carbon Footprint our main lines of action are:
Efficient air-conditioning in workplaces and optimized electricity consumption through energy efficiency measures (0.7% contribution to emissions reduction)
Increasing the purchase of green energy (6.7% contribution to emissions reduction)
Including environmental criteria in purchases from suppliers (32.8% contribution to emissions reduction)
Reducing business travel and commuting (59.8% contribution to emissions reduction)
Since 2010 we have been collaborating with the CDP Climate Change initiative, the most prestigious index on climate change, which provides global information on the management of risks and opportunities identified by the largest companies worldwide.
In the 2024 edition we obtained the an A score. This result reflects our strong commitment to the fight against climate change.
CDP's recognition values the integration of climate change into business strategy, transparency in communicating climate change and the relationship with the climate change value chain.
