Indra participates in the latest edition of the Ports Evolution and Rail Evolution Fair that will be held October 18-19 at the Durban International Convention Centre in the city of Durban, South Africa, as a leading technology company in the sector of passenger and freight transport in Africa as well as worldwide.

In this sense, Indra will portray its highly specialized and increasingly innovative solutions and services to improve the business processes of all the agents involved in port, logistical and infrastructures, optimizing investments by guaranteeing the efficiency, sustainability and quality of the services offered

In the port logistics sector, for more than 20 years Indra has been providing with integral systems, ranging from our proprietary vertical solutions based on the iMARE suite, which resolve the core business needs of port managers/operators, port or maritime authorities and the stakeholders of their logistical communities, to solutions that facilitate the integration of the processes and operators in the multi-modal logistical chain of the hinterland.

Indra has successfully completed projects on all five continents, as demonstrated, for example, by the fact that more than 70 ports operate with our systems. The company has deployed single window and port community systems in countries such as Spain, Portugal, Chile, Morocco, Angola and Cape Verde, and maritime traffic management systems (VTMS) at ports in United Kingdom, Morocco, Poland, Senegal and Brazil. Indra is also expanding and modernizing the global technological platform used at the Valparaíso port in Chile (PCS SILOGPORT), while it is one of the main technological providers for the Panama Canal expansion project.

Cutting-edge technology for the rail industry

Indra is also a world leader in rail technology, offering solutions for infrastructures, including their management and operation, and for train operators. Thanks to a firm commitment to innovation, Indra's proprietary solutions have carved out a place at the very forefront of the global sector and have been deployed to modernize rail infrastructures in countries such as Spain, Lithuania, Colombia, China, Malaysia, the USA, the United Kingdom and Morocco, among others. This leadership has turned Indra into the benchmark technology provider within the Spanish consortium formed for the Saudi Arabia high-speed rail link project, and has earned it a place on the Governing Board of Shift2Rail.

Indra’s technological and conceptual expertise enables it to provide service, comfort, security, safety and Intelligence in various aspects of the railway environment such as: railway security and signaling through the latest-generation technologies that conform to the European signaling system, ERTMS Level 2 and advanced ATP security systems; control center solutions; railway operator solutions that optimize the use of rolling stock; station management solutions to automate and facilitate control; reliable and robust latest-generation ticketing and payment systems; tunnel security and management; or smart communications and networks.

Emblematic projects in Africa

Indra has been operating in Africa since 1995 and has offices in Algeria, Morocco, Kenya, Senegal, Mozambique and South Africa, with its headquarters in Johannesburg. Its solutions are used in most of the continent's countries through major projects in key markets for the economy.

In this respect, the company is an outstanding leader in the implementation of energy solutions for electrical power companies in Africa, where it has been involved in some of the most important modernization processes undertaken in the last 15 years.

Indra also has a strong position in Africa as a provider of air traffic control and management systems and airport services. Recently the Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority commissioned the multinational to supply and install its advanced passenger information system, InSIGHT, at Entebbe international airport, and the main airports in Kenya as well as the country's airport operator, KAA, use Indra's management systems. Also in Kenya, Indra's air traffic control systems have been installed in the East African School of Aviation. Meanwhile, Nigeria's main airline, Arik, has implemented Indra's revenue accounting solutions.

On the African continent Indra has also supplied its radio navigation aids for the navigation service provider ASECNA (Agence pour Sécurité de la Navigation Aérienne en Afrique et à Madagascar), which operates in 17 countries.
